Extraction: Steam distilled from needles and twigs.

Characteristics: Palest yellow to olive green liquid woody, smoky, sweet balsamic odour with refreshing pine/juniper characteristics and lingering tenacious sweetness.

Blending Factor: 5 Odour Note: Base

History: Part of ancient southern European traditional medicine and held sacred by the Greeks who used its wood to build temples and sanctuaries. Because the cypress tree is evergreen and long lived the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans associated it with death and rebirth and planted many of the trees in cemeteries. Used in Ayurvedic medicine and the Chinese eat the nuts for liver, respiratory and sweating disorders. Hippocrates recommended the oil for severe cases of bleeding haemorrhoids.

Methods for use:
Massage - Use up to 25 drops of Cypress or a blend of complementary oils in 50ml of massage oil base.
Aromatic Bath - Blend 5 to 10 drops of essential oil blend in 5 ml of dispersant and add to a full bath
Vaporiser - Place 8 to10 drops of essential oil blend onto the top of your Tri Nature vaporiser dish.

Blends well with: Cedarwood, bergamot, pine, lavender, citrus oils, clary sage, juniper, sandalwood, marjoram
